Fossil Free London

Fossil Free London is a climate justice organization dedicated to disrupting the fossil fuel industry here in our city. Through direct action, strategic campaigning, and movement building, we challenge the social license of elites and corporate polluters.

The campaign group uses direct action, creative stunts, disruption and protest to target key fossil fuel corporations and banks. They call for disengagement, divestment, and disclosure from universities and other socio-political and cultural institutions from companies contributing to the global climate crisis. Through poster-making sessions, large-scale marches and protests, and investigative research, Fossil Free London strives to free London from fossil fuel and its corporate backing.

Shut Down Shell
Despite extreme weather ruining lives across the world, Shell remains committed to extracting more climate-wrecking oil and gas. Shell’s own research shows that new oil and gas are incompatible with keeping global heating below the crucial 1.5C limit, yet the company is investing billions in fossil fuel expansion– with as little as 1.5% of its spending going to solar & wind. In 2023, fuel prices spiked and millions of us city-dwellers faced impossibly high energy bills. Meanwhile, Shell raked in record-breaking profits. Individually, Shell’s leadership and shareholders reaped many millions in pounds. The company also has a dark record on human rights, notably in Nigeria where it may have been complicit in the murder of activists. Leaked documents show that Shell knew about climate change as early as the 1980s, but covered it up. Today, the company spends more on marketing than on clean energy. Fossil Free London calls on everyone to join the fight against Shell Corp. and join in on their ongoing campaigns against the company. Through disruptive public protests, educational public talks for those wanting to get involved, and a reputable hotline and email for tip-offs against Shell’s labor and environmentally detrimental practices— Fossil Free London is here to SHUT DOWN SHELL.
