Jaguos por el Territorio

The Jaguos por el Territorio Association is a non-profit organization committed to protecting, restoring, and defending the community of La Jagua and its surrounding ecosystems. It promotes environmental, social, and cultural education while fostering sustainable agricultural projects and ecosystem recovery to ensure the community’s long-term presence despite pressures to relocate.

La Jagua has historically been a place of cultural exchange, where different Indigenous groups, enslaved peoples, and migrants have converged over centuries. While the origins of its people remain debated, the community embraces its dynamic diversity rather than claiming purity from a single lineage. The “Decolonizing La Jagua” initiative encourages families to explore their ancestry and rethink human and environmental relationships, advocating for decolonization as a crucial strategy to protect Mijina (Pachamama/Planet Earth).
