Stichting DOEN
Stichting DOEN is a Dutch organization based in Amsterdam that focuses on projects that promote regenerative economies, social solidarity, and the power of radical imagination. A quite globally-minded organization, Stichting DOEN focuses on the transition from a linear to a circular economy, as well as the transition from systemic inequality to equity, forging these transitions in society through the proliferation of various creative advocacy projects.
Primarily, Stichting DOEN, which means “to take action,” works to empower marginalized peoples around the world and to protect the environment from the proliferation of global climate change by generating funding for local and global projects that pioneer sustainability and radical imagination. For example, in 2015 the organization created the Action for Hope initiative, which organized art and cultural activities in refugee camps in Lebanon and Jordan, providing essential creative outlets for survivors of ongoing war and political violence. Another notable initiative supported by Stichting DOEN is “TranSformS,” a program that uses dance and choreography as a tool of social inclusion and positive change for both people and the environment.
