Party for Socialism and Liberation (“PSL”)
The Party for Socialism and Liberation believes that the only solution to the deepening crisis of capitalism is the socialist transformation of society. Driven by an insatiable appetite for ever greater profits regardless of social cost, capitalism is on a collision course with the people of the world and the planet itself. Imperialist war, deepening unemployment & poverty, deteriorating health care, housing, education, systemic racism, discrimination & violence based on gender and sexual orientation, and environmental destruction are all inevitable products of the capitalist system. For the vast majority of people around the world, including tens of millions of workers in the United States, conditions of life and work are worsening, with no possibility for meaningful change under the existing system.
The belief that capitalism’s increasingly repressive grip on society can be dismantled without revolutionary means is an illusion, as are reformist hopes for a “kinder, gentler” capitalism or decentralized alternatives based on small-group autonomy. The reality is that meeting the needs of over 6.5 billion people requires large-scale agriculture, industry, and planned economic coordination. The core issue facing humanity is that most of the world’s productive wealth, created through social labor and derived from nature, is privately owned and controlled by a small minority whose decisions prioritize profit over human need. Humanity today faces a stark choice: an increasingly destructive capitalism or socialism.
