Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination
The Laboratory of Insurrectionary Imagination, founded in 2004, is known for its bold combination of art and activism. They have organized acts of mass disobedience, such as during Copenhagen’s UN climate summit, and creative protests, like building an illegal lighthouse and launching a rebel raft regatta. Bringing together artists and activists, their projects focus on co-designing creative direct-action forms that are both joyful and politically effective. Their approach emphasizes horizontal organizing and challenges art’s role in transforming society, rather than simply depicting it.
